October is the perfect month to reflect on the bravery and devotion of the humans who paved the way for marriage equality, transgender rights, and visible queerness.
But have you ever considered that, as a person in the LGBTQ+ community, YOU have a queer history, too?
Queerness is about so much more than who you choose to date. It outlines our honesty with ourselves, the authenticity of our self expression, and the way that we show up in the world.
So how can you honor YOUR history this month? Here are a few journaling prompts for ya:
1. How were queer people seen by your family members? What messages did this teach you?
2. Did you know any LGBTQ+ people growing up? How were they treated?
3. When did you know that this was part of YOUR identity? What emotions did you experience then?
4. How has your self-expression evolved as you’ve stepped more fully out of the proverbial “closet”?
5. What memories have been most impactful to your self-identity?
6. Who are the people who have SEEN you most fully & unflinchingly on your journey?
Sending you love! 🌈
